Nintendo Revolution Release Date

SPOnG media source, the Nintendo Revolution is currently on track for a June 2006 global launch. Rumors also state that the Revolution manufacturing process points to a simultaneous global launch, stating, "Nintendo will get the launch in Japan and America and Europe as close as possible...it will be like the Xbox 360 launch, only tighter." While no official launch date for the Revolution has been set, the console's lack of public exposure has lead the press to believe that it won't launch until late '06. But, with the Xbox 360 releasing next month, and the PS3 to follow next spring, Nintendo should look to position themselves accordingly. Join the forum and enter to win free monthly prize giveaways!

As history has shown, Nintendo usually doesn't follow in the footsteps of Sony. So it shouldn't come as a shock that, unlike Sony, Nintendo might not go forward with a worldwide simultaneous launch for the Nintendo Revolution. "We don't think it's necessary to do the simultaneous worldwide launch simply because others are doing this," said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata to Bloomberg at GDC, via GamesIndustry.biz. Iwata proclaimed that Nintendo would "disrupt console gaming" with a plan that will be revealed at its pre-E3 press conference in May.
