Xbox 360 Expands Compatibility?

Does a dream comes true? According to the Mac Observer, Microsoft has confirmed that its Xbox 360 video game console will synch with and view files stored on a variety of devices, including Apple's iPod, PDAs and Bluetooth enabled mobile phones. The capability, revealed at last week's unveiling, was discussed in further detail by Shane Kim of Microsoft's Xbox 360 division: "We're going to integrate really well with the devices and content that people already have stored on other devices," he explained. "We demonstrated that you'll be able to access your photos and your music that's stored on other devices, CD players, an iPod, even a PSP." One could assume the best case that the Xbox 360 will work perfectly with all Windows Mobile devices, such as Pocket PCs, Smartphones and Portable Media Centers and I'm sure it will support Microsoft's Windows Media 10 DRM (aka Janus) to play DRM protected files from msn music or Yahoo! Music but can it become true that the 360 will also support Apples DRM protected AAC files from the iTunes Music Store to play it from a connected Apple iPod?

Expect Microsoft to ship 1.5-million Xbox 360s worldwide by year-end; down from the previous projected 2.5-million unit estimate. Microsoft has given no official shipment statement. The specific launch shipment breakdown is estimated as follows: 800,000 units to North America, 500,000 to Europe, and 200,000 to Japan. Microsoft has reported the definite possibility of an Xbox 360 retail shortage before Christmas, but does plan to fulfill retail shelves steadily after launch.
