Samurai Western PS2 Game Review Can't Post

Samurai Western for the PS2, rated M for mature, doesn't make sense..... Samrai's and swords again cowboys and guns? The game itself permits a certain degree of role play where you can dictate your Samurai equipment, but this gets real mundane real fast. A nice design feature has any accessories equipped accurately represented in the game's cutscenes. The game won't take long to pass and gameplay isn't hard, button mashers will enjoy pounding away on the controller to slice and dice; control-pad artists will like carefully timing a dodge to deflect bullets and knives back at their foes and unleash more powerful jump attacks.

Samurai Western is a standard hack-and-slash with a quirky setting, it doesn't hold up for two main reasons: lack of polish and much-needed variety. Graphically, Gojiro passes through many of the boxes, barrels and other items lining his path, yet hits invisible barriers that prevent him from having full access to seemingly open areas, which is unexcusable considering the strength of today's console hardware. The repetition makes for a good rental but a poor purchase. You'll pass it fast, then face options of added gameplay, unlockables, and the like, that don't keep your attention much longer. I'd give this game a 2/5.
