I need help with the name of a video game please

This has been racking my brain trying to figure out the name of this game. I rented it once before, since then moved to a different state. Listen closely to the details and you can help me.
It is for one player only, for playstation 2.
It is a very high paced hack n slash, set in a d&d type setting.
At the very start of the game you start on a battlefield as a barbarian. you hack n slash until you get to the wizard. you now have both characters, babraian and wizard. hack n slash some more and you will get the female rogue. those are the main three you play as throughout the game, simaltaneously, always toggling between those three. you go through manyt portals saving villages, toggling between all three, upgrading weapons at the end of each level.
The key point to remember is that you toggle between 3 characters all throughout the game while fighting creatures, and the ai lets you know when another of the 2 you aren't controlling needs help.
I remember one level there were tons of spiders and you climb aboard a raft into a huge spidernest lair. you also take control of a giant statue later in the game.
please help it was an awesome game but couldn't think of it for at least a few years now!!!
