DRIV3R PS2 Review

Yes. Yes it does. The game looks great, it sounds great, the cinematics are insane, and you practicly feel like you're playing a movie (complete with a 'previously on driv3r' cut scenes when you restart the game)....However, reviews are split in half, some call it a flop, others give it wide praise, I stand somewhere in the middle. The pros: Fantastic graphics like I said, the Xbox will of course beat the PS2 in this deparment but who cares..... The other HUGE pro for Driv3r is the very successful vehicle component. You can drive pretty much anything in the game, and it's alot of fun. Boats, motorcycles, 18-wheelers, cars, trucks... you name it, you can drive it. Plus, many of the missions are carefully crafted and scripted to support this strong attribute which when combined together -- racing and mission -- make for a very very entertaining game. Too bad they didin't stop here..... The Cons: Step out of the car and the game is crap..... You move slow, the AI is slow, the AI is stupid, the AI is stupid... no I said that already. It's night and day when play mission by foot, and when they're done by vehicles. I suppose this leaves an area for improvment for the next edition.... whenver that comes to be. However, as of right now Driv3r could have been a GREAT game, one of the best of 2004, but the walking missions, or anything out of the cars, is terrible and not worthy of gameplay. Should you pick it up? You make the call. Great cars, acutally FANTASTIC vehicle support, but terrible when you're walking around. Join the forum and enter to win free monthly prize giveaways!
