Aspyr Media releasd of Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse. It’s Aspyr’s first originally-published A-list game available for Mac OS X, Windows and Xbox. The third-person action game that uses an updated version of the Halo engine, Stubbs the Zombie was developed by Wideload Games, a Chicago-based game developer founded by Bungie Studios co-founder Alexander Seropian. The game tells the story of Stubbs, a traveling salesman who met an ignominious end during the Great Depression, only to be resurrected as a shambling zombie in the mythical town of Punchbowl, Penn., circa 1959. Punchbowl is one entrepreneur’s vision of the future — a crime-free city populated by helpful robots and flying cars, and citizens with no tolerance for rotting, animated corpses in their midst. Stubbs can use his own powers to eat the brains of his victims, reanimate them as zombies, and can use his body as a weapon, tearing off his own arm to possess his enemies, yanking forth putrid “gut grenades, using unholy flatulence, and even using his own head as a bowling ball of sorts.
Rated M for Mature by the ESRB, Stubbs the Zombie costs US$39.99.
