Nintendo DS Hotspots Plans	Can't Post

In order to expand on the wireless capabilities of Nintendo's dual-screen handheld gaming system, the Nintendo DS, the company has announced plans to establish 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in Japan by the end of 2005. The hotspots will allow DS users in the immediate area to play online games with other players. Similar plans are in the works for overseas territories, including North America.

Two games have been announced that will utilize the upcoming wireless network- racing title Mario Kart DS and the non-violent, social community game Animal Crossing DS. Both games will be released in North America before the end of the year.

Nintendo expects sales of the DS handheld to more than double, reaching 12.4 million units, in the next year.
