Mad Catz Signs Games Accessory Deal with Disney

Video game accessory maker Mad Catz Interactive Inc. will release a series of game-related products based on Disney properties starting with "The Incredibles," Mad Catz Chief Executive Darren Richardson said on Wednesday.
The one-year deal includes the right to market products based on Walt Disney Co. properties like "Lizzie McGuire," "That's So Raven," "Kingdom Hearts," "Chicken Little" and "Tron."
The deal is part of Mad Catz's strategy to broaden its range of offerings. The company is best known to game players for after-market console accessories like game controllers and steering wheels for racing games.
San Diego-based Mad Catz will attempt to keep a range of products in front of consumers by replacing one accessory package with another in shipments to retailers every few months, Richardson said.
The first three accessory bundles are all for the Game Boy Advance SP handheld game system, and include products like a car charger, "Incredibles"-branded bags and game cases, and a "Mr. Incredible" action figure for keychains. Mad Catz also makes custom mats for dancing video games, and last week announced its first published video game, the dance title "MC Groovz Dance Craze."
