Square Enix has re-released the SNES classic Final Fantasy II under it's known name in Japan, Final Fantasy IV. Porting a SNES game to the GBA isn't a particularly difficult one, but whether you're getting something better or worse is the question. In this case, it is the former as Square Enix does an excellent job of choosing its modifications. The graphics are crisp, and there is even a character portrait next to their data in the Info menu, which was not previously available. The movement speeds of your characters, as well as the NPCs, have drastically increased, making the gameplay time much shorter. Also new to the game is the Active option, for those who prefer a real-time battle than a turn-based one. One of the biggest changes made to FFIV is the addition of a unique ability for each character. The best part about this is that these abilities are readily available with the characters. There are other big changes as well, such as an extended storyline, new dungeons, and a beastiary list for you to study the monsters you've fought In addition to a well-laid out story, the pixel art is vibrant, the gameplay is sensible, and the music is enjoyable. Final Fantasy IV is possibly one of the best, if not the best, game of its series. Even for those who aren't immediately inclined to pick up an RPG, this is definitely one you would not want to miss.
