Although there have been various studies dotted here and there pertaining to the effects video games have on social behavior, Universities have yet to invest mainstream attention to the fastest growing area of the entertainment industry. Long standing debates between video game makers and opponents of violence in video games continue to stand locked in battle because of inadequate scientific research. Why do some individuals play with a degree of ritualism that borders on the point of obsession? What effects do violent video games have on kids, and to what extent do these game affect their social behavior? The answers to these questions is not far off. Major Universities are investing some serious time into academic research designed to increase our understanding of what's really behind the pervaisve but little understood entertainment medium.
