Ubisoft Denies talks with Merger Partner to Prevent Merger	Can't Post

Ubisoft Entertainment SA said it is not in talks with any potential merger partner as it seeks to fend off a possible takeover bid by U.S. rival Electronic Arts Inc.

Vivendi also denied any talks were underway with Ubisoft in a statement released late Wednesday. But both companies declined to say whether any such discussions had been held earlier.

California-based Electronic Arts, whose hit titles include NBA Street and the SimCity series, bought 20 per cent of Ubisoft last month, raising speculation that a bid for the rest of the company was imminent. Ubisoft said it considered the move "hostile."

Electronic Arts declined to comment Wednesday on whether it plans to take over Ubisoft.
