Activision Triples Earnings	Can't Post

Riding the wave of the very popular Spiderman 2 and Shrek 2 video games, Activision Inc. on Wednesday posted a near tripling of earnings for its fiscal first quarter on. The company increased its outlook for the year, but gave estimates for the third and fourth quarters earnings that were below analysts' consensus estimates.

The company further said it will expand operations to 10 new European countries from the current seven and added that its Neversoft unit, the creator behind the popular Tony Hawk skateboard games, is developing a new unrelated game as well as a new Tony Hawk title for fiscal 2006. Moreover, Activision is looking forward to new "Doom 3" and "Rome: Total War" games in the current, fiscal second quarter. Doom 3 should provide substantial earnings for the thrid quarter, which coincides with the Christmas rush.
